55 Wall Street, formerly the National City Bank Building, is an eight-story structure on Wall Street in Lower Manhattan's Financial District. Isaiah Rogers designed its lowest three stories in the Greek Revival style as the Merchants' Exchange, completed in 1841 or 1842. Between 1907 and 1910, McKim, Mead & White removed the original fourth story and added five floors. Its granite facade has two stacked colonnades, and its cruciform banking hall, with a 60-foot vaulted ceiling and Corinthian columns, was among the largest in the United States when completed.
