Aarburg Castle (Festung Aarburg) stands high on a steep, rocky hillside above the town of Aarburg in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. Built in 1659 around an earlier medieval castle that controlled a narrow point on the Aare river, it once served as the seat of the Aarburg Vogt. It is a Swiss cultural property of national significance and today houses the Kantonale Jugendheim, an institution for holding and rehabilitating juvenile offenders.
