Abbazia di Pomposa is a Benedictine monastery in the comune of Codigoro, near Ferrara on the Adriatic coast of northern Italy. Dating from around 1050 and built in the Romanesque style, it was one of the most important monasteries in northern Italy. It is noted for its Romanesque buildings and for the Carolingian manuscripts preserved in its library, one of the wealthiest of Carolingian repositories.
