Acrocorinth is a monolithic rock formation rising above the ancient city of Corinth in Greece, crowned by a fortress that has served as a formidable defensive stronghold throughout the centuries. Commanding the Isthmus of Corinth, the site repeatedly functioned as the region's last line of defense, controlling all land access to the Peloponnese peninsula. Its secure water supply and strategic position made it one of the most impressive acropolis sites in mainland Greece. Though originally fortified in antiquity, the structures visible today largely reflect Byzantine architectural phases.
