The Main Admiralty Building stands in central Saint Petersburg, Russia, and serves as the headquarters of the Russian Navy. Originally designed in 1704 as a fortified shipyard under Peter the Great, it was rebuilt between 1806 and 1823 to designs by Andreyan Zakharov in the Empire style. Its spire, topped by a golden weather-vane shaped like a small sailing warship, serves as the focal point of Nevsky Prospect, Gorokhovaya Street and Voznesensky Avenue.
