The Aji Chay Bridge is a brick, stone and mortar arch footbridge spanning the Aji Chay river northwest of Tabriz in Tabriz County, Iran. It once linked Tabriz with northwestern Iranian Azerbaijan and carried the route to Turkey and Russia, part of the Silk Road. Its latest major reconstruction dates to the 19th century, under Abbas Mirza's governorship, by architect Hadj-Seyed-Hossein Tajer. Repeated restorations left its sixteen spans without a uniform design, three semi-circular and the rest zig-zag. Now open only to pedestrians, it is registered as Iranian National Heritage.
