The Akhmad Kadyrov Mosque stands in Grozny, Chechnya, on the site of the former Presidential Palace destroyed in the First Chechen War. Completed in 2008 in the classic Ottoman style, it is among Russia's largest mosques, with four 62-metre minarets modelled on those of Istanbul's Sultan Ahmed Mosque and a central dome 16 metres in diameter. Its construction was commissioned by the mayor of the Turkish city of Konya.
