The Alâeddin Mosque stands on Alaaddin Hill in the centre of Konya, Turkey, as the principal monument of the hilltop citadel that once held the Seljuk Palace. Built in stages between the mid-12th and mid-13th centuries, it served as the main prayer hall of the Seljuk Sultans of Rum, and its courtyard contains several of their burial places. It is the largest of the Seljuk mosques surviving in Konya, and it takes its name from Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad I, after whom the hill is also named.
