The Puerta de Alcalá is a Neoclassical triumphal gate in the Plaza de la Independencia in Madrid, Spain, near the city centre. Originally a gate in the Walls of Philip IV, it was commissioned by King Charles III, designed by Francesco Sabatini, and inaugurated in 1778. Its ornamental sculpture by Francisco Gutiérrez and Roberto Michel is carved in white Colmenar stone, and its architectural elements are chiefly Segovian granite.
