The Apostolic Palace is the official residence of the Pope, the head of the Catholic Church, in Vatican City. Also called the Papal Palace or Vatican Palace, the Vatican itself refers to it as the Palace of Sixtus V, honoring the pope who built most of its present form. Its Renaissance architecture is attributed to Donato Bramante. It houses the papal apartments, Holy See offices, chapels, the Vatican Museums and the Vatican Library, including the Sistine Chapel and the Raphael Rooms.
