Arad Fort is a 15th-century castle in Arad, Bahrain, built in the typical style of Islamic forts before the Portuguese invasion of 1622. It is square, with a cylindrical tower at each corner, and is surrounded by a small trench that once held water from wells dug for that purpose. Formerly guarding its own island, it has been joined to Muharraq Island through land reclamation, and its restoration used traditional materials such as sea stones, lime, sand and palm trunks.
