Arch 22 is a Neoclassical triumphal arch on the road into Banjul, The Gambia, standing 35 metres tall. It was built in 1996 to commemorate the military coup of 22 July 1994, through which Yahya Jammeh and the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council overthrew the elected government of President Sir Dawda Jawara. Near its base stands a statue of an "unknown soldier" with a rifle on his back, a baby in one arm, and a V-sign raised in the other hand. The arch also appears on the back of the 100-dalasis banknote.
