The Armenian Genocide Martyrs' Memorial in Deir ez-Zor, Syria, was a multi-purpose complex completed in 1990 and consecrated on 4 May 1991 by Catholicos Karekin II of the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia. Designed in the Armenian architectural tradition, the memorial integrated a church, museum, monument, archive centre, and exhibition space, serving as a place of remembrance for victims of the Armenian genocide. Administered by the Armenian Prelacy Diocese of Aleppo, it drew tens of thousands of Armenian pilgrims annually on 24 April to commemorate the genocide with religious leaders present. The complex was destroyed on 21 September 2014, reportedly by members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
