The Atlantis House on Böttcherstraße in Bremen's old town is a striking example of German Brick Expressionism from the interwar period. Designed by Bernhard Hoetger and completed in 1931, the structure originally served as both a hotel and multifamily residential building. Heavily damaged during the Second World War, it was reconstructed in 1965 with a new facade by Ewald Mataré. Today it stands as a protected cultural heritage monument in the state of Bremen.
