Auckland Castle, also called Auckland Palace, is a former bishop's palace in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, England, and a Grade I listed building. It has been a residence of the bishops of Durham since about 1183 and was their primary home from 1832 until 2012, when it was sold to the Auckland Castle Trust. Its chapel, formerly the medieval great hall, was remodelled by Bishop John Cosin in 1661–1665 with woodwork combining Gothic and Baroque forms, and it holds twelve paintings of Jacob and His Twelve Sons by Francisco de Zurbarán.
