Aviators apartment house
Begovoy District, Russia
Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The Aviators apartment house, completed in 1973 in Moscow's Begovoy District, is a striking example of Soviet Modernist brutalism. Built during the height of the USSR's experimental architectural period, the structure exemplifies the neobrutalist aesthetic with its bold, sculptural concrete forms and assertive geometric massing. Now a candidate heritage site in Russia, the building represents an important moment in Soviet residential design when architects pushed beyond functional housing toward sculptural monumentality.
