Bamberg Cathedral, a Catholic cathedral in Bamberg, Germany, is the seat of the Archbishop of Bamberg. Founded in 1002 by King Heinrich II, later emperor, and consecrated in 1012, it was rebuilt as a late Romanesque structure with four large towers in the 13th century after earlier cathedrals burned. It holds the tombs of Heinrich II and his wife Cunigunde, the only canonized imperial couple, and the only papal grave in Germany and north of the Alps.
