Bangor Cathedral in Gwynedd, Wales, is the Anglican cathedral church dedicated to Saint Deiniol, its founder. The site has served as a place of Christian worship since the sixth century, and the cathedral was deliberately situated on a low-lying, inconspicuous location, possibly to avoid attracting Viking raiders in antiquity. The present structure reflects Gothic architecture and was designed by George Gilbert Scott, built from stone. Today it holds status as a Grade I listed building and a National Monument of Wales.
