The Barrière du Trône was a neoclassical toll pavilion designed by Claude Nicolas Ledoux as part of the Fermiers généraux wall encircling Paris in the 1780s. Located in eastern Paris at the former Place du Trône (now place de la Nation), straddling the 11th and 12th arrondissements, this gateway structure served to collect municipal duties on goods entering the city and combat smuggling and fraud. Built just before the French Revolution, it was part of Ledoux's larger scheme to regulate commerce through architectural control, though the structure has since been destroyed.
