The Basílica Catedral Santa María de la Encarnación stands in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, beside Columbus Park. Completed in 1550, it is the oldest existing cathedral in the Americas and the seat of the Archbishop of Santo Domingo. It is a Gothic building, notable as a real Gothic structure outside Europe, with a golden-tinted coral limestone façade.
