The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is a minor basilica in Lyon, France, standing on a dominant hill overlooking the city. Designed in the Gothic Revival style by Louis Sainte-Marie-Perrin and Pierre Bossan, it was built with private funds between 1872 and 1896. Its name derives from the forum vetus, the old Roman forum that once occupied the site, through a corruption of the French "Vieux-Forum."
