The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta is the principal church of Aquileia, in the Province of Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. An original church stood on the site in the fourth century, but the current Romanesque basilica was built in the eleventh century and partially rebuilt in the thirteenth. It stands on Via Sacra, overlooking the Piazza del Capitolo beside its campanile and baptistery, and forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
