The Basilica of San Clemente is a Latin Catholic minor basilica in Rome, Italy, dedicated to Pope Clement I. The present church, built just before 1100 in the Romanesque style, stands above a 4th-century basilica converted from a Roman nobleman's house, which itself rests on the foundations of a republican-era villa and warehouse destroyed in the Great Fire of AD 64.
