The Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem (Santa Croce in Gerusalemme) is a Catholic minor basilica and titular church in the Esquilino district of Rome, Italy, and one of the Seven Pilgrim Churches of the city. Its baroque building dates from 1758. Christian tradition holds that the church was consecrated around 325 to house relics of the Passion brought from the Holy Land by Empress Helena. Its floor was supposed to be covered with soil from Jerusalem, which gives the basilica its title.
