Bergmannstraße 47–49 in Munich is a four-story post office building erected between 1926 and 1928 by architects Robert Vorhoelzer, Franz Holzhammer, and Walther Schmidt. Designed in the New Objectivity style tempered with Heimatschutz (homeland protection) architectural principles, the structure is distinguished by its high hip roof—a traditional Bavarian feature that anchors the modernist façade. Now recognized as an architectural heritage monument in Bavaria, the building exemplifies the interwar effort to reconcile forward-looking functionalism with regional building traditions.
