Berkeley Castle stands in the town of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, England, with origins in the 11th century and Grade I listed status. The Berkeley family has held it since reconstructing it in the 12th century, apart from a period of royal ownership under the Tudors, and it is traditionally believed to be the scene of the 1327 murder of King Edward II. Open to visitors since 1956, it is now also a historic house museum.
