Berry Head Lighthouse stands at the tip of Berry Head near Brixham in Devon, and has been in operation since 4 May 1906. It is reputedly the shortest lighthouse in Great Britain, only 5 metres tall but sitting 58 metres above mean sea level. Its optic was originally turned by a weight falling down a 45-metre shaft, which is why it was also said to be the deepest.
