Besançon Cathedral, dedicated to Saint John, is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and the seat of the Archbishop of Besançon, in the city of Besançon, France. Built between the 11th and 13th centuries in the Romanesque style and credited to Hugues de Salins, it is a classified historical monument. Its large nave between two aisles has two facing apses, each with an altar, and no transept, a layout that parallels contemporary German cathedrals.
