The Binnenhof is a complex of buildings in the city centre of The Hague, Netherlands, beside the Hofvijver (Court Pond). Built primarily in the 13th century as a Gothic castle, it originally served as the residence of the counts of Holland. Since 1584 it has been the political centre of the Dutch Republic, and today it houses the meeting place of both houses of the States General, the Ministry of General Affairs, and the office of the prime minister. It is the oldest parliament building in the world still in use.
