Birgu Clock Tower
Birgu, Malta

Demolished or destroyed.
The Birgu Clock Tower, also called the Vittoriosa Clock Tower, stood in Victory Square, the main square of Birgu in Malta's Three Cities. Probably built in the Middle Ages, though some sources date it to 1549, it served as a watchtower overlooking the Grand Harbour and saw use during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. A clock was installed in the 17th century. Aerial bombardment in World War II destroyed the tower, though some foundations survive and rebuilding has been proposed.
