Bobbio Abbey, dedicated to Saint Columbanus, is a Benedictine monastery in the town of Bobbio, in the province of Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The Irish saint Columbanus founded it in 614, and the town later grew up around it. In the Middle Ages it was famous as a centre of resistance to Arianism and as one of the greatest libraries of its time. The abbey was dissolved under French administration in 1803, though many of its buildings remain in other uses.
