Bulgar Mosque stands in the Novo-Savinovsk district of Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. Built to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the Islamisation of Volga-Bulgaria, it opened in 1993 to designs by architects Valeriy Voginov and Yevgeni Prokofiev. Its rationalist design combines volumes of varying height cut diagonally into one another, finished in white brick alongside a 35-metre minaret.
