Bolling Island is a plantation house overlooking the upper James River near Goochland, Goochland County, Virginia. Its original frame east wing dates from 1771, and the two-story hipped-roof brick core was built between 1800 and 1810. Remodeled between 1820 and 1835 as a Greek Revival villa for Thomas Bolling, it gained a two-story portico with a Chinese lattice railing and an orangery, reflecting influence from Thomas Jefferson. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
