Bolsover Castle stands in the town of Bolsover in north-east Derbyshire, England, on the earthworks and ruins of a 12th-century medieval castle. Its first structure of the present castle was built between 1612 and 1617 by Sir Charles Cavendish, and the site is now in the care of English Heritage. It is both a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and Robert Smythson is credited as its architect.
