Boylston Building
Boston, United States
Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The Boylston Building stands at 2–22 Boylston Street in Boston, Massachusetts. Designed by Carl Fehmer and built in 1887 by Woodbury & Leighton, the six-story sandstone structure is an early Boston example of skeleton construction, rather than load-bearing masonry walls. It housed the Boylston Market, a wholesale trading exchange that had occupied the site since 1810. The building was designated a Boston Landmark in 1977 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
