The Brion tomb in San Vito d'Altivole near Treviso, Italy, is the burial ground of the Brion family and a masterpiece of postmodernist architecture designed by Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa between 1968 and 1978. Conceived as an L-shaped extension of approximately 2,000 square meters adjoining the municipal cemetery, the sanctuary exemplifies Scarpa's brutalist vocabulary and his philosophy that "the place for the dead is a garden." The complex functions as both a functional cemetery and a powerful commemorative monument, with Scarpa himself interred adjacent to the sanctuary he created.
