The Brothers Islands Lighthouse stands on The Brothers, an island in the Red Sea about 65 km east of al-Qusayr, Egypt. Built by the British in 1883 and renovated in 1993, the 31-metre tower is operated by the Egyptian Navy. It retains its original hand-cranked Chance Brothers Fresnel lens and drive mechanism, which keepers wind every four hours, and visitors are usually permitted to climb it.
