Bute House is a Category A listed sandstone town house at 6 Charlotte Square in Edinburgh's New Town, designed in the Neoclassical style by Robert Adam. It occupies the central house on the north side of the square, which Adam was commissioned to unify in 1791 as part of James Craig's New Town plan. Since 1999 it has been the official residence and workplace of the First Minister of Scotland, where the Scottish Cabinet meets in its Cabinet Room.
