Calaburras Lighthouse stands on Punta de Calaburras near Mijas in Málaga province, Spain. Built in 1863 and rebuilt in 1928, it was the first air/sea lighthouse in Spain and remains the province's main beacon. Its present 29-metre tower replaced an earlier 13.5-metre masonry tower, and its automatic electric light, in use since 1949, flashes every five seconds with a range of 28 nautical miles, serving ships and aircraft in the Strait of Gibraltar.
