California Memorial Stadium is an outdoor college football stadium on the University of California, Berkeley campus, home to the California Golden Bears. Opened in 1923, it was funded by public contributions as a memorial to Californians who died in World War I and was designed under the neoclassical influence of John Galen Howard, the university's chief architect. Set at the foot of the Berkeley Hills, it seats around 63,000 and offers panoramic views of San Francisco Bay from its top rows. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
