Canterbury Castle is a ruined Norman castle in Canterbury, Kent, England, a five-minute walk from Canterbury East Station. Built soon after the Battle of Hastings, it was one of three original royal castles of Kent, alongside Rochester and Dover. It stands on the main Roman road from Dover to London, probably built to guard that route, which William the Conqueror had taken in October 1066. It is a Grade I listed building and a scheduled monument.
