Cape Wrath Lighthouse stands at Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point on the British mainland, in the traditional county of Sutherland within the Highland region. Built in 1828 by Robert Stevenson, the 20-metre tower was staffed until 1998, when the Northern Lighthouse Board converted it to automatic operation. Its light, 122 metres above sea level, is visible for 22 nautical miles.
