Carpenters' Hall stands in Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Designed by Robert Smith in the Georgian style, the two-story brick meeting hall was completed in 1775 for the Carpenters' Company, the country's oldest extant craft guild, which still owns it. The First Continental Congress met there in 1774, and in 1776 the Pennsylvania Provincial Conference established the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within its walls. It is a National Historic Landmark.
