Carreg Cennen Castle stands on a high limestone outcrop overlooking the River Cennen, near the village of Trap, about four miles southeast of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The site may first have held a native Welsh castle, possibly built by The Lord Rhys, though later English work absorbed any remains. The castle visible today was probably built by John Giffard and his son John, and it is now in the care of Cadw within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
