Castel Sant'Elmo is a fortress on Vomero Hill in Naples, Italy, beside the Certosa di San Martino and overlooking the city. Built of tuff from 1537, it is listed as Italian national heritage. Its name derives from a 10th-century church dedicated to Sant'Erasmo, later shortened to "Ermo" and altered to "Elmo." The fortress now houses a museum, exhibition hall, and offices.
