Castelvecchio is a castle in Verona, northern Italy, and the most important military construction of the Scaliger dynasty that ruled the city in the Middle Ages. Begun in 1356, it is a compact square compound of red brick with little decoration, notable for its M-shaped merlons along the castle and bridge walls and its seven towers. Today it houses the Castelvecchio Museum and a local officers' club.
