The Castle of Almourol is a medieval castle on the islet of Almourol in the middle of the Tagus River, in the civil parish of Praia do Ribatejo, Portugal, about 4 kilometres from the municipal seat of Vila Nova da Barquinha. Dated to 1171 and built in the Romanesque style, it was part of a defensive line controlled by the Knights Templar and served as a stronghold during the Portuguese Reconquista.
