The Château de Sceaux is a grand country house in Sceaux, Hauts-de-Seine, about 10 km south-southwest of central Paris, set in a large park laid out by André Le Nôtre. Colbert, Louis XIV's finance minister, bought the domaine in 1670 and built the original château, of which some outbuildings and the garden's underlying layout survive. The present château, designed to evoke the Louis XIII style, dates from the Second Empire.
