The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic cathedral and the seat of the Diocese of Richmond, located on North Laurel Street facing Monroe Park in Richmond, Virginia. Designed by Joseph Hubert McGuire in the Renaissance Revival style, it was begun in 1903 with funds from Thomas Fortune Ryan and his wife, and completed in 1905. It was the only cathedral of its era known to be built through the exclusive patronage of a single family.
