The Catherine Palace is a Neoclassical residence of Catherine II of Russia on the bank of the Yauza River in Lefortovo, Moscow, and is not to be confused with the Catherine Palace at Tsarskoye Selo. It stands on the site of the earlier Golovin Palace and Empress Anna's Baroque Annenhof, which Catherine had demolished in the 1760s. Karl Blank, Giacomo Quarenghi and Francesco Camporesi supervised its construction from 1773, and after Napoleon's occupation of Moscow in 1812 it was restored under Osip Bove.
